Benefits Of Vitamin C Serum

Benefits of Vitamin C SerumThere comes a point in your life where the inevitable brown age spots appear. If it has yet to happen to you…they are coming. No worries though because there is actually something you can do for your skin to help prevent or reverse the dreaded signs of aging. This little ditty is called Vitamin C. I am very excited to let you in on the benefits of Vitain C serums and why you need it in your life!

Why Your Skin Needs Vitamin C

  • Vitamin C is extremely effective in increasing the skins collagen and elasticity.
  • It lightens age spots and fades hyperpigmentation.
  • Vitamin C has the ability to actually limit the damage enefits of Vitamin C serumfrom UV exposure caused by free radicals because of its antioxidant properties (know that this is NOT a sunscreen though).
  • It can fight against photodamage and repair already damaged skin.
  • Vitamin C plumps the outermost layers of cells in the skin (aka the epidermis).
  • This powerful vitamin can help heal wounds in the skin by using scar tissue to replace harmed skin tissue.
  • To enhance the effects of Vitamin C, exfoliate first. Once you remove the outermost layer of dead skin, gently rub the Vitamin C serum onto the skin in circular motions.
  • This is a good time to mention that it is more effective to apply Vitamin C directly on your skin opposed to taking it orally.

Information You Should Know

It is important to note that you should test a small amount of any Vitamin C serum on the skin, perhaps behind an ear to make sure you do not have any sensitivty to it. There is no need to go higher than a 20% Vitamin C solution because studies have shown that 20% is the max absorption. Oxidation can also happen quickly in Vitamin C topical solutions due to heat, light and air exposure so make sure to store in a cool, dry place. If you want to get the most out of your Vitamin C in order to aid in preventing photodamage, make sure to apply it topically combined with Vitain E.

Daily Routine For Good Health

Daily routine for good healthI believe we all have something in common. All of us have experienced times in our life when we don’t feel 100%. We are sluggish in the morning, crave that mid afternoon nap and feel like gluing our butts to the couch in the evening. On top of it our bodies don’t feel quite right. Maybe not sick per say, but definitely not at our prime. Hopefully, those days for you are few and far between. After years….and I am talking years of speaking with people who live an ayurvedic lifestyle and personal experience, I have found a routine that not only works but will help get you out of any rut and make you want to scream “Watch Out For Me World!” So let’s get on with it…Your daily routine for good health.

A Healthy Day Could Look Like This:

  • Upon Waking – Rinse your face with cold water, Oil pull for 20 minutes then drink a warm glass of lemon water to give you energy . Try adding tumeric to your water to reduce inflammation.
  • Before You Get On With Your Day – Try a 5 to 10 minute meditation. This will help clear your head for the day ahead. Also, make a list (mentally) of all the things you are grateful for. By doing so, you will start the day on a positive note.
  • Do Not Skip Breakfast – Breakfast is such an important meal because it provides essential nutrients that keeps your energy going. It is best to eat within the hour you wake up. Make sure you eat enough so that you are able to get through until lunch.
  • Break A Sweat – Get your exercise in between 6-10 am or 5-6 pm. Add some yoga stretches to your daily routine. Your body will thank you for it!
  • Lunch – should be your biggest meal of the day. Aim to eat between 12-2 pm.
  • Don’t Neglect The Important Things In Life – I Daily routine for good healthknow everyone is busy with work and erronds but it is so important on so many levels to make time for the special people in your life. Spend time in nature or practice your favorite hobby.
  • Yes, It Is Okay To Snack – just do your best to keep it light and healthy, although…the occasional sweet treat won’t hurt you 😉
  • Dinner – should be light and easy to digest. It is best to eat before 7 pm, ideally between 5 and 7 pm.
  • Take A Walk – A brisk walk does amazing things for your body and mind. Walking after dinner will help you digest your meal and get your gastric juices flowing.
  • Get Enough Rest – Try to get 7-8 hours of sleep each night.

I hope you find this list helpful in guiding you to a daily routine for good health. Of course feel free to add or take away from this guidline as you see fit. Knowing you are making healthy changes in your daily life and experiencing first hand how amazing your body will feel (I promise you will feel better) will motivate you to keep up with it.Daily routine for good health

How To Practice Being Mindful

How to practice being mindfulWhat exactly does being mindful mean? Being mindful is living in the here and now, mind and body. Do not focus on the past or worry about the future. You are currently neither in the past, nor the future. Mindfulness means noticing your thoughts and feelings without judgement, but pausing before you act on them. Observe your life as it is happening and accept “your current world” as it is without judgement.

Mindfulness is simply

Being aware of what is happeing right now without wishing it were different. How to practice being mindful

Enjoying the pleasant without holding on when it changes. (which it will)

Being with the unpleasant without fearing it will always be this way. (which it won’t)

~James Baraz

Tips On Practicing Mindfulness Daily

  • No one is perfect…always remember that. Forgive your mistakes, no matter how big.
  • Notice your breath. Read this post for breathing techniques. This will help you focus on being in the moment whether you are walking, eating, waiting or cleaning.
  • Be compassionate and empathetic. You will have more sincere relationships with others and more love for yourself.
  • Appreciate what you have and all of your abilities.
  • Be grateful for the good moments in life and show grace when life does not go as planned. Everything happens for a reason.
  • When you lose, don’t lose what you have learned from the situation.
  • Recognize your thoughts as simply thoughts. Thoughts are something you do not need to react on.
  • Be aware of every activity you are doing.
  • Learn to meditate. Here are other ways meditation will benefit you.
  • Sometimes being silent can be the best answer.

How to practice being mindfulLike anything else, the more you practice living life being mindful the more likely it will become second nature. In time your appreciation for your “mindful” actions and life in general will grow and prosper.

From here on out, react with your heart opposed to reacting without thinking. Be mindful, be happy. Sending well wishes your way!

Tips For Healthy Looking Skin

Tips for healthy looking skinWe all want that picture perfect, super smooth, supple, healthy glowing, blemish-free skin. You know, the “airbrush” skin we all see in the magazines. Unfortunately our hormones or daily habits of touching our face, even the foods we eat are causing annoying issues with our skin. So I have compiled a list of the most advised tricks and tips to get and keep our skin looking healthy and flawless.

  1. Probably the most important and commonly waterknown…Drink Water! Make sure to have at least eight 8-ounce glasses (about 2 liters or half a gallon) of water a day. Every day! Your skin will look more hydrated and clear instead of dull and dry. Water will also flush out toxins trapped in your body.
  2. Eat Leafy Greens. Eat at least 1 cup of spinach, kale and/or romaine lettuce daily.
  3. Get More Sleep. Lack of ZZZs will lead to stress which could lead to acne.
  4. Vitamin E. When you apply vitamin E topically you are minimizing the damage from the sun’s harmful rays. Vitamin E will also help calm inflammation of the skin.
  5. Eat Less Sugar. Too much sugar is never a good thing. It can clog your pores and overactivate your oil glads.
  6. Use Coconut Oil. I love, love, love coconut oil for so coconut oilmany reasons. When I was a teen a friend asked me if I was stranded on an island what is the one product I could not live without. My answer then was sadly mascara. Now it would be coconut oil, hands down! You can apply coconut oil all over your face (be careful near eyes), arms and legs. There are just so many uses of coconut oil!
  7. Exercise. When you exercise you help increase oxygen to the skins cells that carries cellular wastes away.
  8. Exfoliate Your Skin. Removing the dead skin will not only make your skin feel smooth but it will look like you have a healthy glow to your skin. Visit THIS post for some wonderful DIY sugar scrub recipes.
  9. Eat Foods With Omega-3s. Foods such as mackerel, salmonsalmon, walnuts, chia seeds, tuna and egg yolks can help reduces skin inflammation like acne.
  10. Switch To A Satin Pillow Case. Sleeping on satin will keep your skin looking youthful.
  11. Wash Your Face Twice A Day. It is so important to get into the habit of washing your face every night before you go to bed. Then rinse your face again in the morning before you start your day.
  12. Keep Germs Off Your Cell Phone. Wipe the surface of your cell phone daily to keep all of those germs from your fingers away from your face.

I hope this list helps you achieve the skin you desire. If you have any tips please share them with the rest of us! Be happy, stay healthy!
