Good To Know

Keep any gel or light lotion in the fridge. This way, you will get the benefits of both healing and cooling effects on your sunburn. Also, it is best to keep already sunburned skin out of the sun!

Check your medicine to make sure it does not make you super sensitive to the sun. Often antibiotics can cause this unfortunate side effect.

How To Take A Detox Bath

How to take a detox bathSo you may be asking yourself, “why would I want to take a detox bath?” I know this because I once asked myself the same thing, only to find that I have seriously been missing out on something so relaxing and so beneficial to my personal well-being. We are exposed to toxins every day from processed foods, pesticides and pollution. It is important for our health to release (detox) these toxins.  Here is what you need to know on how to take a detox bath!

What It Can Do For You

Let me start off by telling you the many benefits of taking a detox bath.

First of all, a detox bath is known to reduce stress levels. Lay back, take a deep breath and let your troubles drift away.

Are you having a hard time falling asleep at the end of the day? Take your detox bath right before you crawl into bed after a strenuous day because the detox bath will not only relieve sore muscles and help improve muscle function, it will also improve how well you sleep.

Taking a detox bath will help relieve headaches and heal skin rashes. This is also something you can do when you are fighting a cold or the flu.

But one of my very favorite reasons for taking a detox bath is, it is a great way to flush toxins out of your body. Better yet, dry brush before your bath to fully reap the benefits!

How To Make Your Detox Bath

Fill your bathtub with hot water. It is preferred to have filtered water, but I know this is not a reality for everyone so don’t How to take a detox bathworry if you do not have a filter…you will still receive the benefits of this bath.

Add: Epsom salts, magnesium bath flakes, apple cider vinegar, baking soda, milk, honey, essential oils, ground ginger (FYI, ground ginger will raise your body’s temperature so start with a very small amount, if any at all) and/or green tea (for its powerful antioxidants and to increase energy.) Please know that you can pick and choose which ingredients are most desirable for you. You do not have to use them all.

Submerge your body in the hot water from the neck down for anywhere between 20 to 40 minutes. I suggest laying there until the water starts to get cool.

Once you are finished with your bath, slowly stand up as you may find yourself a bit weak and slightly dizzy. Please check with your doctor first if you are pregnant to make sure this bath is safe for you. It would also be wize to let someone know that you are about to take the bath, just to be on the safe side.

Rinse off in cold water before fully getting out of the bathtub.

Important To Know

Make sure you do not eat immediately before or immediately after you take your detox bath because it could cause you to feel nauseous.

Also, drink at least 2 full glasses of water (or more) after your bath to keep your body from becoming dehydrated. I like to keep a pitcher of ice water next to the tub for when I get thirsty.

How to take a detox bathI would also suggest keeping a towel close by to wipe the sweat off of your face…you will most definitely sweat (the sweat is your body releasing the toxins.)

To really set the scene, listen to your favorite relaxing music, light your favorite candle and dedicate your detox bath to “me” time. Everyone deserves a little “me” time 🙂

Enjoy your detox bath on a weekly basis.
